This rice variety is originally from India. It is characterised by long slender grains and light fragrance. It is my favourite rice as it pairs well with any dish that you would normally use rice, pasta or potato in.
I have read that this variety of rice, even white, has a lower GI than some brown rice varieties.
The brand I use comes from India but you can buy Australian grown basmati in either dried or parboiled forms.
